Vancouver Gay Volleyball Association

The VGVA has been promoting a gay-positive and inclusive play environment for over 30 years; it is one of the Lower Mainland’s longest-operating volunteer-run sports groups.
In 2008 I redesigned this site, giving it a new layout, several features including a “matchmaker” service for tournaments, polished content and eye-catching graphics.
In November of 2011 I finished another major redesign: the site now runs on WordPress, and sports a revamped layout that better displays sponsors, announcements and matchmaker postings. The matchmaker UI has also been improved in several ways, in particular to make use of AJAX in the login/signup process.
Under the hood, I implemented quite a bit of custom logic, including a control panel allowing non-techy people to configure time-sensitive information for (e.g.) tournaments and registration.

CircleCraft Cooperative Association

Circle Craft Co-operative is a unique BC Artist Cooperative dedicated to providing opportunities for craftspeople to connect with the community.
I was part of a team redesigning the site, and implementing the shopping area in Ubercart. My responsibility was mainly in back-end development, in particular to implement an interface to automatically sync inventory and orders with a 3rd-party Point-of-Sale system. I also assisted in template development. Since the site went live in December 2011, I am responsible for ongoing support.

Lou Crockett Design

This graphics portfolio had been originally done in Flash, but the code was old and failing in most recent browsers. I re-implemented the site in PHP with minor changes to the design, using jQuery to duplicate some of the old Flash behaviour.
