I’ve been following Chris Yates’ Reprographics webcomic for a couple of years now. He’s cute, talented and hilarious. But now he’s taken his art to the next level:

I hadn’t been feeling too inspired, photography-wise. After my trip to beautiful Galiano Island a couple of weeks ago, I didn’t see much to catch my eye in this cold, rainy city. But then I decided, hell with that, there’s interesting stuff everywhere even if the weather’s all yucky. So I took out my camera again.

This is simply the greatest blog ever.

Surinam Toads—spectacularly fugly critters native to northeastern South America—have a rather odd means of reproduction. After mating, the male presses the eggs onto the female’s back. The eggs stick to her skin, which begins to grow over them. A few months later they emerge as toadlets, having already hatched and passed through the tadpole stage. Check it out, it’s equal parts gross and cool.

Okay, so first we had lolcats. Then they upped the ante with lolbots.

Now here’s an awesome blog I just discovered: Paleo-Future, a look at how past generations saw the future (which is often our present). Domed, weather-controlled cities! Flying cars! Segways!

I discovered The Order of the Stick about a month ago (with this episode, to be precise), and was immediately hooked. It’s got great plots, character development, action and adventure and tons of humour. Half of that is the hilarious metagaming dialog which spoke to right to my geek heart.

Warning: Not for children or the faint of heart.

A few weeks ago, a hilariously weird and creepy entry came up on OTF Wank. There’s this guy, who’s married, and also has a girlfriend. His wife is happy being monogamous, but the girlfriend wants to have other partners and he’s jealous. So, okay, at first glance he just sounds like a controlling and selfish asshole, until you find out that his wife is a horse.

Wow.

Oh my dear Lord. Here I was, minding my own business, when I stumbled on this review of Don Johnson’s Heartbeat. If you grew up in the 80’s as I did, and haven’t totally repressed the memories, then this video should need no introduction.

Taking a brief break from Web development, with the coding and the styling and the restructuring, to write a quick entry. (A month between entries is not good. At least I’ve got a good excuse this time.)

So anyway, last Saturday I went to Davie Days, a street festival sort of thing where the businesses (queer and otherwise) along Davie Street all have booths displaying their stuff; there were a couple of beer gardens, a guy making balloon hats for the kiddies (of all ages) and a couple of stages for entertainment.

Just when I think I’ve seen everything, along comes a Web site so unique, so startling, so fucking ridiculous that I instantly feel humbled and relieved. Because there are whole dimensions of crazy and stupid out there, and if I searched for a lifetime I could only scratch the surface. Gawd bless the Internet.
